Laboratory Assistant Partner

We are seeking a motivated colleague to fill in an open dual position of Research Assistant and Lab Manager for the recently established Laboratory of Biomolecular Interactions and Transport (www.labbit.eu), which is located in Poznan, Poland, and is jointly affiliated to the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Faculty of Biology, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan and International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw. The successful candidate will help establish and run the experimental lab including the actual execution of experiments focusing on biomedically and biotechnologically relevant proteins and provide administrative support. The position is available immediately.

Examples of duties
• independently design and perform experiments to validate computational predictions; maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes; interpret and analyze findings;
• perform general lab maintenance as needed; maintain lab stock; manage chemical inventory and safety records;
• initiate purchases of equipment and supplies; identify required equipment and techniques;
• provide administrative aid to PI; provide an interface to university and institute administrative as well as to the funding agencies; monitor spending; archive documents (orders, invoices, etc.); draft reports;

Requirements
• MSc. degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or related field and at least three years of directly related experience in a research laboratory (full time), or Ph.D. degree
• fluency in both English and Polish is a must
• excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; experience with research projects will be considered advantage
• proven effectiveness in lab operations; experience with standard lab equipment and safety procedures
• expertise and high-level technical skill in cloning, expression, purification and basic biochemical characterization of recombinant proteins is highly desirable

• full-time employment contract, initially for 12 months, but long-term employment is foreseen depending on performance
• initial gross salary about 4,750 PLN/month (Brutto) + annual 13th salary
