Postdoctoral researcher position in Laboratory of Neurodegeneration.

Laboratory of Neurodegeneration at the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IIMCB), Warsaw, headed by prof. Jacek Kuznickiis looking for Postdoctoral Fellow.

You will join the project entitled “Role of STIM2 isoforms in regulation of neuronal calcium channels in Danio rerio ”(2016/23/B/NZ3/03142), which is carried out as theOPUS grant of the Polish National Science Centre. The project provides unique opportunity to develop cutting-edge cell-based and in vivo (fish) methodologies to better understand mechanisms that modify calcium ion homeostasis. Specifically, we aim to elucidate how the lack of ER calcium sensors Stim2a and Stim2b affect gene expression, neuronal calcium homeostasis and fish behavior. As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will continue advanced projects, which might lead to new ideas and new projects.


The ideal candidate should be able to pursue challenging tasks, think independently, achieve objectives and collaborate with other researchers. Candidates will be selected in an open competition, according to the procedure complying with the rules of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers as a part of HR Excellence in Research strategy https://www.iimcb.gov.pl/en/institute/hr-excellence.


The laboratory is located in the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw (www.iimcb.gov.pl) – one of the top-ranked (A+) Polish research institutes, that provides stimulating and interdisciplinary research environment and opportunities of the large biomedical campus. Research topics at IIMCB cover the wide area of structural biology, bioinformatics, computer modeling, molecular and cell biology, neurobiology, cancer biology, and developmental genomics (zebrafish model). Requirements for the candidate:

  1. Holds a doctoral degree/Ph.D. in biology, biotechnology, medicine or related field at the moment of starting the job.

  2. Has excellent knowledge of molecular and cell biology.

  3. Has expertize or shows strong interests in neurobiology, has motivation for experimental work, passion for science.

  4. Gathered extensive experience in laboratory work, including microscopic techniques.

  5. Has research achievements well documented by publication record and conference presentations.

  6. Shows readiness to learn new skills and take challenges, has ability to work independently and think analytically.

  7. Has excellent communication and writing skills.

  8. Mobility and research experience abroad will be of advantage but not mandatory.
