PhD student position in the Laboratory of Zebrafish Developmental Genomics

Laboratory of Zebrafish Developmental Genomics at the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IIMCB), Warsaw, headed by Cecilia L. Winata is looking PhD student.

You will join the project entitled “Reconstructing cardiovascular cell lineage evolution, one cell at a time”, which is carried out as the OPUS 2019/35/B/NZ2/02548 grant of the Polish National Science Centre.

The project aims to elucidate the epigenetic contribution towards the lineage decision of nkx2.5-expressing progenitors into distinct cardiovascular cell lineages. We hypothesize that distinct epigenetic states occur among subpopulations of nkx2.5-expressing progenitors according to their lineage diversification potential. We will profile open chromatin regions at single cell level and determine whether Nkx2.5 plays a role in establishing the epigenetic state by scATAC-seq method (Jia et al., 2018, Nat Commun 9, 4877).

As a PhD student you will be responsible for performing experiments to establish ATAC-seq  and scATAC-seq in nkx2.5-expressing cells, collaborate with team members to elucidate epigenetic contribution towards cell lineage specification, perform literature research, participate in lab meetings and activities, write thesis and publications.

The PhD student will subsequently be required to apply to the Warsaw-4-PhD doctoral school via website https://warsaw4phd.eu/en/candidates/admissions/ (the application system will be activated from 22nd December, deadline for sending application 5th January).
