PhD student position in the Laboratory of Protein Metabolism

Laboratory of Protein Metabolism at the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IIMCB), Warsaw, headed by Prof. Wojciech Pokrzywa looking for a PhD student to join a project that aims to dissect the mechanisms underlying hibernation-related remodeling of the C. elegans proteome.

The position is funded in frame of the GRIEG project no. UMO-2019/34/H/NZ3/00691 entitled: “Cellular adaptation to cold”. It is Polish-Norwegian research project funded from the Norway and EEA Grants 2014–2021 under the Basic Research Program operated by the National Science Centre.

As a PhD student, you will use the powerful genetic model of Caenorhabditis elegans, which can display a hibernation-like behavior, to determine the mechanism and role of the UCS domain-containing proteins and co-working chaperones in the regulation of cross-talk between translation and proteostasis in the cold. To develop the preliminary results, you will use, e.g., polysome profiling, tissue-specific ribosome imaging, RNA sequencing, in vitro assays on purified proteins, and more.

The PhD student will subsequently be required to apply to the Warsaw-4-PhD doctoral school via website https://warsaw4phd.eu/en/candidates/admissions (the application system will be activated from 22nd December, deadline for sending application 5th January).
