Postdoctoral Researcher

Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Neurobiology

logos: IIMCB and HE Excellence

Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Neurobiology at the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IIMCB), Warsaw, headed by Professor Jacek Jaworski is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher.

You will join the project entitled: “Role of TBC1D5 phosphorylation in neurodevelopment and TSC-related cell pathology” which is carried out as the OPUS (UMO-2017/27/B/NZ3/01358) grant of the Polish National Science Centre. The project aims to define, which aspects of neuronal development and formation of functional neuronal network require mTOR-controlled retromer-dependent protein sorting as well as to check whether disturbed retromer regulation contributes to the pathology of Tuberous Sclerosis Complex, a prototypical neurodevelopmental mTORorophaty.

Laboratory interest:  Research of the Laboratory of Molecular and Cell Neurobiology focuses on molecular aspects of development and stability of neuron morphology. We are especially interested in role of mTOR and mTOR related brain diseases such as Tuberous Sclerosis Complex, Epilepsy and autism. More info can be found at IIMCB Annual Reports (https://bit.ly/2QYbj0a).

As a Postdoctoral Researcher you will be responsible for: planning and performing biochemical and cell biology experiments using neuronal cultures and IPSC-derived models, including more complex live imaging analysis. You are also expected to collaborate with team members, help head of the grant to supervise a PhD student and perform literature research, participate in lab meetings and activities, write publications.

Candidates will be selected in an open competition, according to the procedure complying with the rules of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for Recruitment of Researchers as a part of HR Excellence in Research strategy https://bit.ly/2QXr73e.

The laboratory is at the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw (www.iimcb.gov.pl) – one of the top ranked (A+) Polish research institutes that provides stimulating and interdisciplinary research environment and opportunities of the large biomedical campus. Research topics at IIMCB cover the wide area of structural biology, bioinformatics, computer modeling, molecular and cell biology, neurobiology, cancer biology, and developmental genomics (zebrafish model). The Institute is equipped with state-of-the-art technology including Lightsheet microscope, and has excellent core facilities including NGS facility, and supportive administration. IIMCB benefits from numerous generous funding schemes for basic research through grants from international and national sources (https://bit.ly/3bZYNVh).
