Junior Specialist
Laboratory of Bioinformatics and Protein Engineering
Laboratory of Bioinformatics and Protein Engineering at the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IIMCB), Warsaw, headed by Prof. Janusz M. Bujnicki, offers a position for a Junior Specialist position bioinformatics software developer for databases and web servers.
Deadline for applications: July 9th, 2021. Preferred job starting date: September 1st, 2021 or as soon as possible.
As a Junior Specialist, you will be involved in the development of bioinformatics software, in particular website front ends, web servers and GUIs, as well as computational workflows, databases and data resources. For candidates interested in combining software development with bioinformatics research, the work may also include participation in research projects, including bioinformatics data analyses. In such a case, as a contributor to research and software development, you may co-author scientific publications describing the relevant research.
This position is ideal for you if you are a junior bioinformatician, interested in improving your skills while working in an interdisciplinary team, together with experienced software developers, molecular modelers, and experimental biologists.
Our laboratory studies the structures and mechanisms of biological macromolecules, in particular RNA and macromolecular complexes involving nucleic acids, proteins, and small molecules. We use experimental approaches such as chemical probing, crystallography, cryo-EM, and SAXS to characterize the structures and functions of RNAs and their complexes. We also develop and use computer programs for data analyses, in particular for modeling based on experimental data. Examples of our methods include SimRNA and ModeRNA, and the MODOMICS database. Our recent analyses include the 3D structure modeling of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus RNA.
